Gas bio-burden
Bio-sensitive industries have a very particular activity. It concerns life and human or animal health. These industries use large amount of gases, mainly for the blanketing of their products or their conservation at very low temperature.
Therefore, we should guaranty the highest level of quality of our gases so that bio-sensitive industries can manufacture their products in the best conditions and so to offer consumers a total reliability and a total security.

Gas quality
Quality of gases has been improved over these last years. Mainly from cryogenic origin, they are exempt of humidity and techniques of separation or purification allow to get high purities without particles.
Conditions of production and storage of gases are not favorable to micro-organisms development (thermal shock, high pressure, very low hygrometry). But gases can not be consider as sterile. however, it is important to notice that main contributions to microbial contamination are the non-respect of installation & maintenance good practices of piping networks. Therefore, sterilizing filtration will have to be installed at customers premises in order to secure gas distribution.
In order to assist customers in controlling gas bio-burden along the gas piping distribution network, Air Liquide has developed a patented and validated bio-sampler operating on the impaction principle.
