Cryogenic condensation of VOCs
With about a hundred systems in operation, and more than fifteen years of experience, AIR LIQUIDE helps the chemical industry to comply with air pollution control regulations by providing design, engineering, equipment and the installation of cryocondensation systems with your local legislation.
Principle:
Liquid nitrogen (-196°C/-320°F) is used as the cooling agent in a specific heat exchanger through which gaseous effluents pass. Chemical solvents are condensed and the purified gas is released. Solvents are then easily recovered to be reused or stored in a safe area.
Specific features
In the broad portfolio of existing technologies for VOC emission control, cryo-trapping is specifically adapted for high VOC concentration and gas streams below 2000 Nm³/h.
Advantages
- High flexibility in terms of gas stream and VOC content.
- Very low maintenance (no rotating devices).
- Nitrogen is usually recovered at the outlet of the installation and used for applications such as inerting.

Injecting carbon dioxide is an easy, cost-effective and very safe way to control your effluents' pH. Whenever their alkalinity is too high, a simple injection of CO2 will take you to the neutral zone with no risk of becoming over-acidic. Moreover, CO2 is much less troublesome to handle than most chemicals!
The use of oxygen in a biological basin not only greatly enhances the efficiency of your water treatment unit but also increases the settlability of the sludge, radically cuts your energy consumption, and substantially reduces foul-smelling substances.

VENTOXAL™ is our 500-times referenced oxygen transfer device. Oxygen flows of up to 240 kg/hr can be injected through a single unit to deliver maximum yield!
TURBOXAL™ has been specifically developed for shallow basins (less than 4 meters deep), where a smart floating device will optimize the oxygen bubble plume in such a way that O2 will be optimally dissolved in water.
Whenever your waste stream needs discoloration of hard COD abatement, think ozone!
Generating ozone from oxygen can be performed inelectic generators. One of our skills is injecting ozone in water safely and efficiently. We also know how to couple between ozone injection, oxygen-rich off gas recovery and its re-use in a biological basin. Which enables you to benefit from a fully integrated solution.
